Jonah: Video Day 2
“Dude!” we say, when Jonah’s head pops up out of his cup. He has only been with us 2 full days and already his coat has thickened, wounds knitting and body looking more rabbitity. I guess we have decided he is both a male and worthy of the “Dude” moniker. Jonah Lebowski. Actually his whole body has been popping out of his cup the last few hours. So we moved him cup and soul to an aquarium apartment so he can practice lifting his ears, walking…even running. All without his eyes...
Read MoreDay in Pictures
Its only 9 am yet its already been a day of pictures. Just after midnight we grabbed this shot of Jonah diver down. Bunny butts, must be photographed what you gonna do? Then in the wee hours, third watch is my turn. Jonah is so active and adorable! New Linens. New Fur coming in. Wounds healing nicely. Attitude also coming along. NO mug can hold me. Read MoreJonah and The Wildside
This morning after taking pictures of the Tarantula I was so excited I jogged home to show my boys. When I got to the gully area where our Dear Annika Squirrel lives with her bruiser boyfriend, Red Charlie ( he is very red like a fox) or Chuck I stopped short…there they were. We have been trying to get a picture to prove to ourselves that Kika is allright. I didn’t get a decent picture but now I had 2 things to tell. Also when I stopped earlier at the donkeys they were at the far end of the...

Well I think they are pretty cute, obviously. To everything there is a season. Lately its been the time for Spiders and Snakes. A few days back I happened upon a baby Texas Rat Snake ( non-venomous) in the road. Its been cold and wet here but now its warming up. Snake time. The warm pavement is a great place to get some sun. They stay nearby it when they are not right on, sunning. So I take extra care when stepping off the road to snap flower photos on my morning walk. I watch where I put my...

Good Morning Happy Wildlife Lovers! Following the prompt “Place” from Junelle and Christy’s Art of Wild Abandonment workshop I hammered out some little rough sketches. I am getting better at scribbling a sketch like a quick note. I wish I were disciplined enough to sketch everyday like this it really pours out ideas on paper. Often times in digital scrapbooking my well went dry and I would have trouble jumpstarting it. The quick sketch is so helpful to work through an idea…colors,...

Pictures by Dillon Cates We’ve got grass to munch, a fence for safety and all our dogs are in at night, paradise for rabbits. Except for the cats, not sure which one in all the commotion brought this baby jackrabbit in. She could have been chased in. Gracie Dane needs the door open a LONG time to get in and out. Jackrabbit Girl got away pulled a fast one and ran out the open door. She rested on the porch, looking injured and allowed us to pick her up. We checked her over and she had a skin...
Read MoreEnchantingly Creepy: LIFE Magazine Looks Back
http://life.time.com/curiosities/a-squirrels-guide-to-fashion/#1 Thank you Rosie for sending this! I was both giggly enchanted and slightly standoff-ish due to the creep factor. I am still wondering why Tommy The Squirrel dressed in ladies clothes? What made Mrs. Bullis think dresses were the thing? Did she only have mad dress making skills? …were trousers a work of mystery? Either way I am choosing to be enchanted. Thanks Honeybun Master!...
