Squirrel Dome: Clearing

Squirrel Dome: Clearing

Last weekend was GLORIOUS weather here! A fluke! Nearly 55 degrees, sunny, light winds. We went to work clearing a spot in my wildflower garden. A loose term. I really is a corner of the property that I mowed once and baby rabbits came flying out and my heart nearly stopped as I checked to see if I had hit one. Nope! They are little blisters of speed, luckily! So I let it go wild and flowers grew. I dubbed it my wild flower garden and Jack called it something else. Something like a fire...

Jack’s Window & Siding

Jack’s Window & Siding

Just the window framing left to do…yipeee! Jack’s doing an awesome job on the window and siding. Wondering why I am not helping? Because at this stage I would not be helping! Just pushing for the job to be done. HOOT! He has an idea in his head on how he wants it to go and he is doing it nice and slow.  This reforming control freak has stepped off the man so he can do it his way. I feel like I should get in there and push on occasion, but I refrain. He’s got this.   Jack thinking. I...

Outdoor Temporary Possum Caging

Mostly writing this out for my poor memory. I will forget how this went together after a month. I do that. If it helps anyone out there make a temporary cover well then its doubly worth posting.  To become wild possums again, the orphan babies go to outside caging when they are big enough just to get used to the outdoors and get in touch with their inner possum. We call these “wilding cages” or the process of “wilding”.  We do not have permanent wilding cages so until...

Window To My Heart

While doing our roof patch we ordered a new window. It arrived two weeks ago and being the loving procrastinators we are it took us this long to “get around” to putting it in. We would still be procrastinating except we want to put shelves in the shed next, so got moving to finish this window business. See the window was in my hauling everything SUV and until we can pack up all the giveaway stuff we are going to find in the shed when we empty it, and haul back all the lumber for the...

5 Things We Learned While Roofing

  5. Knee Pads. Buy them. Wear them. Spend as much as you want, but the more you spend the bigger they get, the bigger the get the greater area of swamp skin your going to get. We bought the four cheapest pairs we could find and bought another 2 sets for each car’s emergency kit. (  for feel good tire changes). Check it! 4. Take this roofing business seriously, folks. Planet of the Apes?? 3. There is no such thing as too many hammers. So your hubby loves his tiny ball pein hammer. It needs...

Roof Patch Day Eleven

Soffits Done! Jack is back to work today. To recover. To sit in his work chair. Interact with people who do not have dirt under their fingernails. Be Cool and nurse his roof wounds. The boys and I went to work on trimming, painting and building a new vented soffit. Now I have to get this out of my mouth. I DID worry Jack’s time off would end and the project would not be done, thus I would  have to finish the job without my main work partner. Jack does so much! Well it ended up only a...
