Vegetarian Dinners: Chili

Vegetarian Dinners: Chili

I watched a movie on Netflix Streaming Sick Fat and Nearly Dead and went on a 10-day juice fasting reboot the moment the credits rolled. More on this in a later post. It absolutely CHANGED my life…for 10 days! LOL! How to keep the good thing going became a challenge. The dilemma for our family and for most families is we don’t eat enough vegetables so when I started to re-integrate food through a 15 day juice during the day + dinner at night I knew I couldn’t go back to the way I used...

More Art Time: Pantry Dinners!

I admit to loving my time in the kitchen. I dig walking into a clean kitchen and starting in on an idea of dinner PESHAW the recipe and winging it. I used to cook the entire day and stuff the fridge and freezer and exhaust myself so I could sit back for a week and re-heat with a smile on my face at all the time I saved, but really I had pre-paid. Even so it was a relief to have dinner ready to go. Gone are those days, well for now. I have pets and wildlife and an ART life now! I sometime find...

Pie Treat!

Treated myself to an apple pie at that fast food joint we all know. A reward for not being a big baby and stopping the whole Squirrel Dome Clearing on Saturday when I got tired and wanted to quit. I could have easily done it and my men would have carried me like a football HERO to the house, but alas the punishment continued until it was all cleared.  In case you are wondering There is no such thing as bad pie! Okay that is not true. Sugar-free Blueberry pie ( saccharin) with...

National Pie Day: Pumpkin Pie Greatness

Emerging from hibernation for this recipe and this day. Weee!  Read More about National Pie Day. I make a few pumpkin pies around the holidays. Jack is quite the Pumpkin Pie Man. I have tried fresh pumpkin … great if you can get it, bake halved pumpkin cut sides down 350 degrees 40 minutes, scoop out seeds, then flesh. Don’t even try cutting the rind off a raw pumpkin, you will just end up in angry tears.  Tried the can pumpkin with the spices inside, all brands too. Yet I...

Bachelor Chili Casserole by Max The Banker

After years of being a nameless, faceless group of bank numbers we finally found Max. He is the cherry on top of the sweet deal we now have with our new bank.  Patient, Talkative, and full of homey stories of family. He is just perfect for us. He spontaneously emailed this recipe for sharing. BTW, he is no longer a bachelor if you are wondering. Yeah, a lucky chickie-babe snatched him up already. Max’s Cold Day Chili Casserole   2 cans of wolf brand chili (beans, no beans...

Chili Meltdown

“ If I don’t find this recipe for Emeril Lagassi Chili soon I am going to pitch a fit!!”  That was me this morning just after Jack left for work and my man-kids were shuffling about with toothbrushes hanging out of their mouths. Don’t worry. They are used to me being Voice-Over Vivien at 7:10 in the AM. I was thumbing through these little magazines I got with my Martha Stewart Living Magazine subscription. Everyday Food. Its a darling little magazine, and a TV show on...
