Nathan Braces Off!

Monday Nate got his braces off. To toot his horn a bit… he was released an entire year early because of great hygiene and the use of a new kind of appliance called Damon Braces. Dillon had them too and he was released 6 months early. Nathan’s work was more extensive than Dillon’s so the both did very well! We are relieved its all over except for the retaining phase and we LUB and highly recommend our Orthodontists Dr. Penny and Dr. Hall of Weatherford, TX. I couldn’t find a complaint...

Merry Christmas: Almost Time to Make Pie!

Such a glorious morning, the kids and Daddy Jack are all in bed. I have vision of pie making dancing in my head. Our Mystery Guest, Raccoon Girl/Boy just rumbled by my window on its way to bed…wherever that is. Fresh from terrorizing the ducks in their little duck house I am guessing.  The chicken for today’s chicken soup is baking, the ham for tomorrow is defrosting as is the cookie dough, pie crust dough, and the rolly dough…let me just say dough again. Dough. Old cat Luna Marie ( 18...

A Harry Potter Moment

A Harry Potter Moment

It seems everywhere I turn this last week I am quietly confronted with Harry Potter. 1. Mowing the lawn early the other morning, sun just coming up. The Dutch Elm ( Elder) Tree we planted to mark the end of the book series is glowing red when the sun hits it. I walk closer. Is it a trick of the light or is it… sunburnt, crackly. Looking quite dead. I think we lost our commemorative tree to the Texas Heat. Fetal Position, Sadness, Cry. Its the end of the world until I remind myself we...

Nathan Saves.

Nate and I went to our friend Kay’s to pick up some cages for acclimatizing possums before release.  We keep them in smaller cages inside when they are babies, but to increase their chances of survival in the wild we give them a chance at what it feels like to be outdoors and tune up their possum senses. Kay was fine enough to give us some of her outdoor caging so we didn’t have to make our own. Phew! Saves us SO much time! Thanks Kay! So we headed to her house and Nate and I hear a baby...

Peedie The House Possum

Peedie The House Possum

When we first heard about Peedie…a wild orphan possum adult who grew only half her size and was deemed un-releasable. I wasn’t sure we should take her. She seemed attached to her current situation and I hoped she would stay there for her sake. As it turned out later she did need a new place and Nathan being the sort to make time for spoiling animals and her needing a place to be spoiled. Perfect Match. Nathan was tired of NOT loving on the possums who were to be released. Since they might...

18 Years of Nathan!

Our baby is 18! What JOY! Our boy loves fire…go figure! The box of matches was purchased just for him. He prefers to light his own birthday cake. Golden Butter Cake with Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting! Weeee! This time around we decided to light the Happy Birthday Candles. As you might recall, Jack opted to not light them on his birthday cake back in January. Too neat to light was the consensus, but after trying to keep them safe in the cabinet for all these months,...
