Tutorial: No Fuss Saving, Loading, Re-Saving Layer Styles in Photoshop

Saving Saving Styles is best done outside of the Photoshop program. New to you? The more you load into Photoshop the slower it goes, the more resources Photoshop needs from your computer to open and function properly… the more likely it is to crash unexpectedly too. If you don’t already have a method of storing scrapbooking materials make a  Design Folder on your main drive or better yet on a secondary drive dedicated to scrapbook graphics that can easily be backed up. The easier it...

Troubleshooting Live Writer

Having trouble with Live Writer recently made me realize how much my world revolves around having a simple, offline blogging tool. I promised my computer, if it helped me fix the problem, just did its part, and quit being a pill.  I would write a little blog post to help others stuck in the same mess I was in. Help did arrive and as promised here it is…a rope for those mired in quicksand. Heave. Scroll to bottom if your LIVE WRITER has become inexplicably damaged and you have to find...

Photoshop CS4: Setting Up and Basic Tools

It finally happened. I have decided to upgrade to PS CS4. I know most of you reading this probably are already deep into PS CS5. Humor me. I actually love change. As my SUPER VGA  monitor and wired mouse gleefully attest to.  When change comes with an Adobe price tag I hesitate a bit more than usual.  This time I got the bundle ( Jack got it for me, he’s the hero) for a good price so I also am plunging into Illustrator CS4 as well. Better late than never. Amazingly I still have Jason...

Using “sheets” in Paint Shop Pro

One of the joys of my life is building Photoshop Layers Styles you will find a bunch in my store. I haven’t forgot my roots…I started graphic design in Paint Shop Pro. PSP. When the PS Layer Styles translate well to PSP I will include seamless jpgs with the Styles Downloads. I call them “ sheets” because they often look like pieces of patterned paper. Look for previews to say “Styles and Sheets” to know which ones contain a download for other graphics programs like PSP.  Loading...

Hanukkah, Tutorial Links

Hey Folks! Tonight marks the 5th night of  Hanukkah. I once asked a child I was babysitting ( I was 12, no more than a child myself) who was celebrating this glorious holiday and she was so excited to tell me all she knew. I was in awe! She knew more about her observance than I did of Christmas. Real Christmas. I knew plenty of Santa Claus! *wink* One of the best things about Homeschool is it allows us to explore the culture and religious observances of others. Its a wonderful way to...
