Last night Parker Muttley wanted out really bad. He never wants out, he just goes out when some other dog or cat goes. Flicking on the porch light I look to see if there’s a wild animal on the porch. Habit. Nothing. Out he goes, beyond the porch light and hiss, slash, rustle, rustle Parker starts yelping like he has lost a limb. With speed I never knew she had, Gracie Dane is out the door and falling off the porch, rolling, rolling, and rolls right up onto her feet. Nothing gets to mess with her Parker, but Her! I get to worry about 5 seconds knowing Gracie and Parker can’t defend themselves. They are the goof-ball twins. In the chaos that is the turtle SLOWLY leaving the pond they retreat so badly as to put there own feet in the path of the turtle’s business end. Realizing what they have both done they freak out and stomp around the turtle even more. “Just leave!”, I am thinking madly. What the turtle was thinking I have no idea, sure it was hilarious.
Back to last night… Well Parker shoots into the house from some wacky angle and Gracie gets back in too. I start checking them over for injuries. Parker got nothing on him. His nose is wet from bawling, his eyes are dilated completely open even in the harsh light of the kitchen, but there is not a scratch, bite or even a saliva smear on this guy. Phew! Gracie turns out to be fine with grass stains on her doggie knees and toes to prove she actually did action roll like Inspector Clouseau.
Daylight shows a spilled bird feeder, the lid off the bird feed supply and lots of bird food everywhere. No blood. No fur tuffs.
We’re good.
Just thought you should know.
