This is Geyser, the squirrel love of my life. He has an amazing sense of humor and he bites. What’s not to love?
I am going to be a buying fool for DSD. I was going to spend an hour this morning making space, then I remembered I have a new computer, Stella. I have TONS of space. Did I remember to tell you?? I may no longer be young! *grin* Jack built me a new one because my old one keeps shutting off unexpectedly and I don’t want to stop so Jack can fix it. Stella is yummy fast and has two new Terra-bite HDs. So I really just moved a few files around to be better organized and got rid of what I have been holding onto from my tagger days. ( 2002-2006) Good Years! I had no idea what resolution was! *giggle* I like to keep my design stuff on external HDs with internal drives as back up. I know that is kind of backwards but it works great for me.
I had some time when new products for DSD were uploading to Digiscrap Warehouse so I started clearing my office hot spot. My printer is where everyone drops off…mail, mending, drawings, phone messages, the last old banana, etc. So imagine my surprise after I dug a few inches down and found a new external case with a 160 GB harddrive ready to go. No note. Its from Jack of course. My Jack-Jack he knows what I like! HOOT! I don’t have everything moved over to Stella yet because I want to put it on the externals first, and go through it deleting stuff I am hording but will never use before backing it up on those shiny new TB HDs. Out with the old and IN with the new! I love sales!
DSD?
For those who are new…Welcome! Digital Scrapbook Day is always the first Saturday in November and celebrates our digital obsession. Its suppose to get us to take time to document some memories as well as spend some cash. For me digital is the way to go since I have all these dogs, cats, ducks, and recently, possums and squirrels shedding and taking up all the smooth spaces. I couldn’t keep a piece of paper clean much less cut it into something to make a traditional scrap page. Digitals have saved me from that frustration. I once set a bill down while I was talking on the phone and came back around…couldn’t find it. I looked and looked. It was under Buttercup. She’s a big cat not even a corner was sticking out. I could never paper scrap and stay sane.
The sale at Digiscrap Warehouse has started. I have a grab bag ready.
Only $5 dollars for 6 full sized products.
Weee! I really had a blast making this grab bag, probably because its been a while since I made one. So glad I am back in the saddle again.
Oh, I just have to share some pictures of the squirrels, and of course my favorite one, Geyser. The story of Geyser and his brother Horizon getting their names is one I haven’t told yet because its just been such a mad house here since their arrival. Babies are constantly cleaned and fed by their attentive squirrel mommas. Hats off to them they are just wonderful moms.
Well when people take care of squirrels its by much paler light than their real mothers. They get poop on them, pee the bed and lay in it. After a while even in a routine where we feed them every 4 hours the babies can start to smell like corn chips. We were trying to clean them up, but not get them wet so they would get cold and die so we really could only clean up the easy parts. Horizon came with a poop smear from ear to ear and Geyser came with one from nose to neck. It took weeks for us to wear it away with the little scrubbing we dared. So they got named for their poo marks! HOOT! Horizon because of his horizontal line and Geyser for his vertical one.
We notice right off that Horizon was the daredevil of the group. Can do anything and does. Geyser was slower but still beat the rest. As they grew they got farther apart until we realized others were passing Geyser by, he didn’t jump, fell often, has trouble with sideways movement, and goes backwards when he means to go forward and seemed take a long time to see things others saw automatically. Now we are sure Geyser is partially blind or maybe completely. Probably the fall from the tree that brought him to us injured his vision before his eyes were even open. His neck is not very flexible like the others and he really only turns it slightly in one direction. We think this is also from the fall. So he fell hard or hit something hard on the way down. He is remarkable because he has learned to adapt so well. If you saw him with the others you would not notice any limitations. We really want to give him a shot at being a wild squirrel even if its only limited. Wild animals should be wild. Its where they really become complete. Keep your fingers crossed for Geyser.
Here is the dude himself after playing outside the cage with Isis. Resting up after a chase with Isis around on the man-kids.

Here is Isis, she is the smallest, and youngest. They are so fast!
Next break. So tired. Messing with Sasquatch Geyser

Balancing a wood chew on his head.

a pencil.

a pencil, Lord of The Rings collectors card, wood chew.
Yes, we are reading Lord of The Rings out loud an hour a day which means we are barely making a dent. Geyser is chewing the pages. He loves him a fat stack. LOTR delivers.
