Each October I dig out the dusty boxes holding Halloween stuff. Costumes on top. As I unpack to get to the decorations I get to remember. The year I was Mother Nature and Dillon was an apple tree. The year Nathan went as Pizza. The year the boys made their own costume. 2 headed, 3 legged monster with their left and right legs tied together, a big black cloak over the top of them. The year Jack and I went as Beausephus and Josephine Hayseed, matching rope holding up our pants. The most comfortable costumes EVER! The year I went as a ballerina only to have to wear a sweater over the whole thing because ice hit Phoenix. It was tragic. I was 5. “ Ballerina’s don’t wear sweaters!,” I cried. I barely survived to shame of being a lumpy ballerina. Admittedly I love the memories of Halloween. So vivid in my mind still today. Yet the costumes and decorations are taking a beating. What was once garish and brightly colored now fades. I check the seams for the colors I once knew. Yes, there they are. Overall its soft faded colors…Vintage Halloween? I decided to roll with it. Voila!
