Be Still My Heart

Posted on Jan 28, 2011

Hey y’all!

The x-rays  from yesterday were not pretty, but better. Again I feel so much healthier than those pictures look! I say that and Jack just rolls his eyes! HOOT!

Today’s weather reminds me of Mexico City the summer I visited. A balmy 73 degrees, sunny and a slight breeze. We visited Chapultepec Park, climbing the hill and to Chapultepec Castle then we walked and walked. Its a big park. There were vendors selling all kinds of things, my Mexican friends Miguelito and Riza made sure to visit the Mango Vender. After paying and picking out your own mango to hand to the vendor, he stuck a long stick  into the mango: piercing the seed. Then he peeled it in a blink and last slicing it into bite size sections like a artichoke’s leaves. So one could tear off a piece by mouth and not get the juice all over ones clothes. Then he douse it with all kinds of things, I remember lime juice squeezed on mine I forget what else there was. In my kitchen, mangos are notoriously hard to peel without me ending up with a handful of juice.  SO I tried what I saw at the park that day at home and it worked like a charm. Thought I would snap some pictures one of these times so I could share a pretty safe way to peel a mango. This is the time.

I didn’t have a heavy wood skewer so I used a small knife to pierce the seed. You know you got it when the knife goes in more than an inch and doesn’t go into your hand. *wink*

Yum!

Gracie finds a patch of sun too!

Today on the Kristine Rocks Show! Be Still My Heart Kit!

folder01

I just love this yummy collection I love kits that have papers that go very light and then decadently dark, Kristine is really good at this. The elements have hints of both so it works if your in either mood. This is what I did with it.

jc-DbyKbestillmyheart   It was late in the day and I asked my boys to pose for me, they were kind of tired and I know they don’t much like to “pose” so I told them they could grab their favorite cat and that the LO was for Kristine, our family’s favorite Canadian! So they got into it. For the Stine!

That is Nathan and Tailor up top.

Dillon and Hank under.

I have shots of Dillon and Hank through the ages. I will have to do a LO of a few of those. Hank is such a great model. He just LOVED getting his picture made! LOL!

Template was a freebie from Photocowgirl. She has some beautiful templates using masks you just must try. Super Coolito!

Freebie Alert!

A little cluster freebie from the page above. Click the image to go to Kristine’s Blog  for the download link. MWAH!

Ya know I have never had a fresh mango? Dried yes…but I am craving a fresh one. I saw somewhere that they put lime juice and cayenne pepper on them. Sweet and spicy…sounds good! There HAS to be a way to make that into a jello shot…BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Such a gorgeous shot of Gracie! It makes me want to kiss her furry face! She’s so obviously comfortable there, it makes my heart glad to know she’s where she needs to be…with all the other furpersons in Bean town. Hugs to you for all you do, we love you!
And thanks for the beautiful cluster!

Thanks for the Freebie! Gracie looks so happy now that she’s in a safe place! Thankfully she’s in nowhere near me! You might have to fight me for her, Ha-ha! I keep seeing such cuties up for adoption on the TV morning shows and it’s a good thing that none of them have been were I can get to them easily or my tiny house would be wall-to-wall cats & dogs! I guess I’ll just have to settle for dog sitting my sister’s dog starting the end of next week. That should remind me why I only have 1 cat & 1 dog. Both my dog (Lucy) & sister’s dog (Jake) are in the large group, not as big a Great Danes but big enough that with the 2 of them in the house you can’t turn around with tripping on one of them. Hope you ‘pics’ keep getting better & better! Have a great weekend!

Mangostine! Yes, I have had them with Lime and Cayenne Pepper, the combination tasted like bbq’d chocolate. Okay, maybe I had some tequila with it, maybe I didn’t. It was a long time ago! HOOT!

I thought for sure I saw mango flavored jello once.

    Here we go!

    Hey Rosie!

She was staring daggers at the neighbors dogs! They bark at nothing all day and really bark their heads off at something. She was trying to figure out which it was this time. LOL!

Gracie is not very tolerant of barking for no reason. She is a quiet girl, but she gets talkative if she has something to say!

Please come a visit any time to love on the dogs! They need more attention as you can see! LOL!

Laine! Good Luck with your doggie sitting. You know with all the dog butts in the way around here, no one gets anywhere fast!

We love our crew, yet we look back fondly when we had a single cat and a single dog. We know that was a line we crossed into oblivion with dog two. Took us 10 years and many dogs and cats to figure that one out! LOL! Hindsight!

Your house will seem so BIG when its all over! *grin*

Thanks for the freebie and the mango tut! :-) The BEST Mango had to have been in Hawaii for me. It was SOOOOO good. I buy them here and they just aren’t the same. Please send some “life without lemons” this way! January 2011 hasn’t been good so far… hubby lost his job, I had health problems and January isn’t over yet!! Thanks for the cheery post and the dog pics.

Patti! Sending Good Vibes your way for a life without lemons, may February be kinder to you.

I have never been to Hawaii, my high school class went after graduation, but I decided to go to Mexico & Central America on the cheap for the summer. I am so glad I did. What I saw there I still get value from…I still am learning from. I never knew while I was dining on Mangos in Chaputupec Park, my classmates may well have been doing the same in Hawaii! LOL!

xoxox for you and your hubby!

    Bean.

Stopping by to check out your georgous blog and so much love to go around for 2011! It’s not starting off for a good year for me or my family, and hope that maybe your no-lemon law for 2011 will grace my hurting heart.

Take care and God bless you and yours…
