18 wheelbarrow loads in the hole and the sky opened up. So we are off the hook for the rest of today unless this rain doesn’t last.
All that topsoil doesn’t look like much, does it? Just to be clear, the dirt that came out of the hole didn’t disappear, it was mostly clay and rock. It was so solid, we had to use a pick axe to break it up ( 7 dwarves start singing “High-Ho”) and broke shovels to move it. Its serving as road and footpath base, we built a frog habitat, filled in under a swing set, and that pesky line between where a concrete slab and grass meet, but not quite, and covered some roots on our larger trees with this cement-like dirt! It was fabulous for all that stuff! For the hole, we are going back with store bought just in case we or anyone else needs to dig this honey pot up again.
All those wheelbarrow loads don’t look like much…eeek! Those things sticking up are called risers, they cover the pump holes, the dirt will come up to about 3 inches below their lids and the sod will cover the rest. Cool Huh?
Still got a bunch of soil to move…tomorrow maybe!![]()
