Mom and Dad when they were dating.
I remember my mom telling the story of this night how she thought it was a fancy date and Dad picked her up in his jallopie that only had one seat ( for the driver) and she sat on a soda pop case in her new white dress hanging on for dear life in the turns. *hoot* My Dad had removed all the seats except the one, because he delivered pop at his job at the local bottling factory. If I remember correctly this picture was taken at a summer carnival near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
I think Daddy was a Greaser! LOL! Very Cool, eh? As the story goes, soon after this date my mom’s cousin took her out to a birthday party because my dad had to work. Dad misunderstood and thought mom was dating another guy. So he hid in the bushes by her house and when mom’s cousin Mack walked her to the door, dad jumped out and beat Mack to a pulp!
Dad and Mack became friends ( a few years later) and now laugh about it, but it was scandalous for the little town at the time. Of course, my mom ran into the house and watched from the window with her mother pulling at her to come away while worrying aloud what her neighbors might think. This story is delicious!! It should be a movie! LOL!
